What's inside

What's doing the work.

Four things worth knowing about. The full list is printed on the tube, nothing hidden.

PDRN

PDRN

The Korean skincare actif this whole category is built on, now in a format made for the scalp.

Cica

Cica

Centella asiatica, the calming K-beauty staple, here as a four-part complex.

Caffeine

Caffeine

The one you already know from your skincare shelf, finally pointed at your scalp.

Menthol

Menthol

The cool, fresh tingle you feel within seconds of it touching your scalp.

Leave-on, no rinse, and nothing left sitting on your hair.

THREE MONTHS IN

What three months looks like.

Hair parting on day one, dull and weighed down at the root
Day one
The same hair parting three months later, glossier and lifted at the root
Three months

Same hair. Glossier, because the root is clean instead of coated. Fuller looking, because hair that is not weighed down sits up and catches the light. Healthier looking, because a scalp that is looked after shows in the first inch.

No grease, none at all

This was my only worry and it is genuinely not an issue. I put it on, tie my hair up, and it looks exactly the same as it would have anyway.

You feel it straight away

The cooling starts about three seconds in. I have never used anything where you can actually tell it is working the moment it goes on.

The brush is the whole thing

I thought it was a gimmick. It is the entire reason this works. Droppers never got near my scalp, this parts my hair and goes straight on.

Finally in stock here

I had been waiting three weeks at a time ordering PDRN from overseas sites. Ordered Friday, here Monday. That alone sold me.

My day two hair is different

My roots used to go flat and gross by Tuesday. My scalp just feels clean now and my hair looks fuller at the front.

Took a couple of goes

Getting the brush angle right took me a few tries and I used way too much at first. Once I worked it out I was hooked.

Everything you are wondering

The honest answers

Will it make my hair greasy?

No, and this is the one everybody checks first. The formula is lightweight and water-light rather than oily, and the brush puts it on your scalp instead of down the lengths, so there is nothing sitting on your hair to weigh it down. You can blow dry, straighten or tie it up straight after and it behaves exactly as it normally would. If anything, people tell us their roots hold better.

Do I have to rinse it out?

No. It is a leave-on, which is the whole point. Part, press, massage in, and get on with your morning. Three minutes, no shower required, which is why it is a routine people actually keep rather than one they abandon by week two.

What does the cooling actually feel like?

A fresh, tingling lift that starts within a few seconds and settles after a minute or two. It is the part most people say sold them, because unlike almost everything else in a bathroom cabinet, you can tell it is doing something immediately. If it ever feels uncomfortable rather than cool, rinse it off and stop using it.

What is PDRN?

PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide. It is the ingredient that has taken over Korean skincare over the last couple of years, first in face serums and now on the scalp. It has been genuinely hard to get hold of in New Zealand, which is most of the reason this exists.

Will it work on my hair type?

Yes, on all of them, and the brush is the reason. On thick or curly hair a dropper or a spray mostly lands on the hair itself and never reaches the skin. The brush parts it and puts the serum exactly where it is meant to go. Fine hair is covered too, because nothing is left sitting on the lengths. It is also completely fine on colour-treated hair, extensions and after a keratin treatment, since it goes on the scalp rather than the hair.

I noticed hairs in the brush. Is that normal?

Yes, and it is not the serum doing it. Everybody sheds somewhere between 50 and 100 hairs a day without noticing. Massaging your scalp releases the ones that had already let go, so they collect in the bristles instead of turning up in the shower or on your pillow later. You are seeing them, not causing them, and it usually settles down once you are a week or two in.

Is this a hair loss treatment?

No, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Lumia is a cosmetic scalp care product, not a medicine. What it does is cool and clean the scalp, lift buildup, and leave hair looking fuller at the roots. If hair loss is your actual concern, see your doctor or a dermatologist. They can help with that properly, and we would rather tell you straight than sell you the wrong thing.

How long does one bottle last?

Around 6 to 8 weeks at daily use, longer if you use it every other day. The brush meters it as you go, so you use far less than you would tipping a serum onto your fingers and losing most of it on your palms.

Can I skip or cancel anytime?

Always, and in a couple of taps from your account. Skip a delivery, change how often it arrives, or cancel outright. No phone calls, no retention script, no hoops. Every subscription order ships free, which is the only reason most people stay on one.

Feel it, or it's on us.

Give it 60 days. If you're not sold we'll refund your first bottle, and you won't need to post it back.
